‘Scotland is the world capital of fish for breakfast. During 10 days in Scotland I ate smoked haddock topped with an orange-yoked poached egg; scrambled eggs and smoked salmon; proper Scottish kippers on the bone, with plenty of melted butter and a fat pink fillet of trout, masterly cooked by Elaine Murdoch, mother of five and hostess of Lochwood Farm Steading – the farmhouse bed-and-breakfast where we stayed one night.
Once upon a time, they served fish like that on the luxury transcontinental trains in the United states. No kidding.’
Raymond Apple, restaurant critic for The New York Times
Until March 2020, we had been serving a full cooked Scottish Farmhouse breakfast in our breakfast room. However things have changed ! Like every other business, we have had to adapt and with the addition of tables and chairs that we have put into the suites, we are delighted to say that we are now bringing to you a hearty, full cooked traditional Scottish breakfast served in the privacy of your suite. When all restrictions are finally lifted, we will continue to offer the choice of having breakfast in your suite or coming round to the farmhouse breakfast room.
The Lochwood Farmhouse Scottish Candle-lit Breakfast
This is served each day in the farmhouse breakfast room between 8.00 a.m. and 9.30 a.m.
If you wish to eat breakfast earlier or later then we can offer you a light Scottish continental breakfast or sandwiches to take away for later on in the day – please let us know when booking.
We only use good quality fresh produce, the majority of which is Scottish and as local as possible.
